Human health

Mosquito-borne disease reaches billions of people, and the vectors are spreading. We suppress the vectors that carry dengue and malaria, and aim to extend that to other vector-borne diseases.

03 · First program

Flyttr is bringing its expertise and capability to the screwworm fight and is making screwworm the first mission of Flyttr Biosecurity. The effort includes unprecedented speed to stand up emergency sterile fly production in the US in service to the national response.

I

The threat is moving now

New World screwworm is confirmed across Texas and pushing north. It lays eggs in the wounds of living animals, and it puts herds, wildlife and rural economies directly at risk. The response needs volume, and it needs it this season.

II

Producing sterile flies in the United States

FastFly is an accelerated manufacturing initiative feeding American-made sterile flies into the USDA-led national response, supported by DARPA, with suppression technologies developed alongside Texas Biomed in San Antonio.

III

Built for the next threat too

The same program develops modular countermeasure manufacturing: production systems that can be stood up fast, moved, and reconfigured for a different pest. What FastFly builds for screwworm becomes standing national capacity.

04 · Collaborate

Flyttr works with governments, agricultural authorities, industry, research institutions and funders to build next-generation solutions, capabilities or capacity to fight the most important pest threats today and tomorrow.

Flyttr announces the nation's first pest biosecurity platform, in San Antonio, with New World screwworm as first target

A standing American platform to design, test, produce and deploy countermeasures against critical pest threats, led by the FastFly program.

Flyttr will build the nation's first large-scale biosecurity research, development and countermeasures platform in San Antonio, Texas, giving the United States and its allies standing capacity against the pest threats that pose the greatest risk to American lives and livelihoods.

The platform addresses critical gaps in the ability to detect, understand and respond to threats such as disease-spreading mosquitoes, livestock parasites like the New World screwworm, and pests that damage American agriculture. Research, engineering, manufacturing and scale-up will sit in one centralized set of facilities, so a new countermeasure can move from concept to production in months, not years.

The platform's first focus is New World screwworm, in a program called FastFly: an accelerated manufacturing initiative adding American-made sterile flies into the national response led by the USDA, supported by DARPA. FastFly also develops modular pest countermeasure manufacturing that can be built fast, moved, and reconfigured for a different threat.

The first San Antonio facility will exceed 130,000 square feet and is anticipated to add more than 50 R&D, engineering, operations and support jobs, growing to more than 100 as the platform scales. It adds to the laboratory facilities Flyttr already operates at the Texas Biomedical Research Institute.

Full release to follow.

Texas Biomed and Flyttr partner to advance next-generation solutions for the invasive New World screwworm

Flyttr will develop advanced biological suppression technologies at Texas Biomed's R&D facilities, expanding the options available to the national response.

Texas Biomedical Research Institute has entered into a partnership with Flyttr to develop, evaluate and advance next-generation biological solutions that could strengthen future elimination efforts against New World screwworm, a destructive livestock pest that threatens animal health and agricultural economies.

Under the agreement, Flyttr will use advanced laboratory facilities at Texas Biomed over the next two years to develop suppression technologies that build on proven, mating-based methods such as the sterile insect technique, to rapidly suppress and push back screwworm populations.

New World screwworm was confirmed in a calf in Zavala County, Texas, in 2026, the first U.S. detection in nearly sixty years, and further cases have since been confirmed across the state.

The collaboration forms an R&D outpost on the front lines of the screwworm response, where, together with a range of collaborators, the arsenal of tools available to eliminate the threat can be expanded and scaled.

Flyttr acquires RapidAIM: scaling global autonomous sentry systems to strengthen decision advantage against biosecurity and pest threats

Real-time autonomous pest detection joins the platform, closing the gap between a pest arriving and anyone knowing about it.

Flyttr has acquired RapidAIM, the Australian developer of intelligent autonomous pest sensor systems, integrating real-time pest detection into the biosecurity platform.

For decades, responses to biological threats have been slowed by fragmented data and manual, reactive surveillance. A pest can establish itself long before a trap is checked. RapidAIM's sentry systems identify pest pressure continuously and at landscape scale, without traps, turning detection from a periodic sample into a live signal.

Combined with Flyttr's AI-powered decision support, that signal becomes decision advantage: governments, operators and producers can see where pressure is building and act while a response still has leverage. It is the front end of the same platform that develops and manufactures the countermeasures.

The acquisition strengthens Flyttr's capability across agriculture, public health and the environment, and extends the platform's reach in the United States, the United Kingdom and Australia.

Flyttr launches as the leading global platform for sustainable pest management

A pivotal evolution from a pioneering biotechnology company into a global solutions platform, built to lead a new era of sustainable pest management.

Flyttr launches as pest threats to human health, food security, livelihoods and ecosystems intensify globally. Pests claim over a million human deaths per year, threaten the health of billions more, and destroy more than 20% of all agricultural output every year.

As these threats grow, traditional pest control tools, fragmented approaches and single-intervention strategies are no longer sufficient to deliver effective or sustainable outcomes.

Building on two decades of leadership, combined with new acquisitions, partnerships and infrastructure, Flyttr addresses these urgent challenges by developing, commercializing and rapidly scaling new sustainable products, including intelligent pest surveillance systems, Wolbachia and genetic biocontrol solutions, AI models and agents, scaled insect manufacturing, and innovation acceleration for third parties.
